A brutalist exploration of weight and permanence. This massive cubic structure combines
rough-hewn texture with precision-cut geometric interlocks. It stands as a testament to the
enduring power of raw stone, commanding the space around it with gravity and silence.
Technical Details
Composed of three interlocking blocks of grey basalt and granite. The total installation weight
exceeds 2.5 tons. Verified for outdoor installation in all climates.
The Process
This work required heavy machinery to manipulate the blocks. The "rough" faces were created using
the feather-and-wedge splitting technique to expose the natural grain of the stone, contrasting
with the saw-cut smooth faces. The assembly defies gravity, holding together through friction
and hidden stainless steel keying.
Artist's Note
"We build to defy time, but time always wins. This block isn't fighting time; it is waiting for
it. It is an anchor. In a world of digital ephemera, this is undeniable, heavy, physical
reality."
